Galway team for Sunday. NFL Opener!

Iniskeen is the venue for Sunday fixture and Galway are far from full strength (bear in mind, either are Monaghan, who, as it turns out are missing more 1st choice that Galway). Galway have to go about the fixture without regulars such as PJ, Meehan and Concannon. Also this weekend Galway will have to plan without Paul Conroy (who is on club duity, as is Concannon), Niall Coleman hasnt pulled through injury on time to stake his place and Fiachra Breathnach also misses out. The team bellow :

1 Adrian Faherty Claregalway
2 Kieran Fitzgerald Corofin
3 Finian Hanley Salthill-Knocknacarra
4 Kieran McGrath Corofin
5 Gary O’Donnell Tuam Stars
6 Niall Coyne Carna Caiseal
7 Alan Burke Corofin
8 Garreth Bradshaw Maigh Cuilinn
9 Eddie Hoare St Michaels
10 Joe Bergin Mountbellew-Moylough
11 Cormac Bane Caherlistrane
12 Gary Sice Corofin
13 Matthew Clancy Oughterard
14 Cillín De Paor An Ceathrú Rua
15 Sean Armstrong Salthill-Knocknacarra

Looking at the team, I would have to wonder where has Nicky Joyce wandered off to, reports suggest he is not playing inter-county football this season, if true, it is a big blow for an already bewildered Galway forward line. In midfield a new, untested partnership of Eddie Hoare and Gareth Bradshaw comes into effect and it will be interesting to see how they come out in this fixture. Sean Armstrong starting inside the 21′ will be good news for Galway followers as his performance against Sligo in there was fairly good, heres for hoping much of the same on Sunday!

Its vital thats Galway pick up their 1st points of League on Sunday as it would be fair to say, the loser will face the huge task of waiting in Division 1 for another season, already!. With a fixture away to Down right after, Galway will be up against it this year. An away trip to the Kingdom is also on the cards but home games against, Dublin, Cork and Mayo will hopefully appeal to the Galway follower. Its vital that Galway pick up as much at home as possible. I will tomorrow share my predictions with you for the national league!

All the best lads.
