17 Joe Bergin (Mountbellew/Moylough),
18 Paddy Kennedy (Barna)
19 Owen Concannon (St James)
20 Tomas Fahy (Killererin)
21 Garry ODonnell (Tuam Stars)

It’s good to see Joe giving some new players a chance, but all will be revealed after Sunday’s game to see if they are up to the standard. At a glance I can see the strong full forward line that Galway have, Matthew Clancy is back in action for the new season again which is good news. I have always been an admirers of his, he is an honest footballer who plays with great heart and determination, he may sometimes make some silly mistakes on the field but he always strives to improve. Nicky Joyce is back in again after a good year last season and Michael Martin has finally made the jump from U21 to Senior county football. It’s good to see some more lads coming through from the minor All Ireland Winning team of 2007. Jamie Murphy is another man who impressed me with his performances for Tuam Stars in last years Championship, I was suprised at his selection at corner back as I always felt he played great football at the wing back position with is pace and ability to take on a half back line.

So in what is a relatively new look Galway team without the Corofin players and some other county stars, we will look forward to see how they get on. A reminder to you that the Game is fixed for Tuam Stadium on Sunday 17th January.
