With RTE confirming last Monday that they will be showing the 2010 GAA Championship draw live, we can now look forward to watching the draw live on our television screens. I like all Galway supporters will be looking forward to seeing what type draw Galway can get. The 1st off option would be a trip to The Big Apple to play New York in the 1st round, it would be good to get the lads over there as a group for a few days to get ball rolling but in terms of anticipation it would be a dead rubber, with the only result in sight looking like a Galway win. London are out of the equation to play them in the 1st round due to us traveling over to Ruislip this year already where Galway ran out far from convincing winners. If we where to get Roscommon it would be a dangerous away tie, Roscommon this year put it up to Wexford at home and as the Championship went on, the gained alot of momentum which they hope to bring forward to 2010.
Sligo and Leitrim would be two ties that we would be able to handle well and the outcome would be pretty straight forward but Leitrim down in Carrick -En- Shannon can be a tough proposition. However, the game the neutral would like to see is a Galway V Mayo 1st round match to set the Championship season in motion. Going down to Castlebar with 30,000 Mayomen (and woman) cheering on the team would be daunting and Joe’s team would be up against it. I myself would like to see Galway and Mayo avoid each other until the final and have a re-match of this years Connacht Final, a lot more would be at stake and from a fan point of view it would be a great game to get down in Castlebar with 40,000 people, one for the history books!
For now, I would like to see Galway get Sligo at home to get the season going, however it must be taken into account that out of the potential teams we can get, the matches would all be away from home, bar a match V Sligo.
