The County Final (Take Two)

Well we are back again in Tuam stadium for the County final replay.Mountbellew and Corofin locked horns two weeks ago in Tuam, it was looking like a Corofin victory but for the dying moments when the inspirational figure; Joe Bergin stepped up and hit a monster score to level the game at 9 points each and that is how the match finished. The final was somewhat of an anti-climax finish to the day which promised so much, the weather was good, the huge crowd was in attendance, the Artane Boys Band where in place and the match before the big final (Dunmore V St. James in the Junior B decider) cooked up a cracker off a match.

There was alot to be noted from the final however, Alan Burke, the Corofin native had a storming match and has put himself back in contention to be in the Galway team after a years absence under Liam Sammon, Joe can not overlook this guy. Greg Higgins in the Corofin midfield was dominant and he should not be overlooked for that midfield area, his shooting was a bit way ward at times but made up for it with a good score at the start of the second period. They where the two players that I fell have a realistic chance of making the Galway panel who have not been on it already this year. Donovan was poor in the match in which he missed dome easy scoring chances, Corofins shooting in general was quite poor, a trait which they have been noted to have this year. Mountbellew will show a passion to try and win that title they last won 23 years ago and will look to Joe Bergin once again as a leader. What will be noted from Bergin in the match was ‘that free’ from some 60 yards out.

My Prediction : Corofin win if they can take those scoring opportunities
